Congratulations!
Across many months in 2025, our Vocational Education & Training (VET) and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) staff worked tirelessly to prepare its submission for the Australian VET Training Awards. The process for selection was rigorous, and we made it through to the finals.
In December, in Darwin, it was announced that Guilford Young College is indeed the best in the country, winning the School Pathways to VET Award. I could not be prouder of the College and of our extraordinary VET team. From our first Trade Training Centre in 2010 to now seeing well over 300 students enrolled in a VET course this year. This is testament to our commitment to and belief in VET in school programs.
Families choose Guilford Young College because of VET and our reputation within the community. We currently have 14 VET teachers who have 22 qualifications between them. All VET courses are taught alongside our other TASC curriculum offerings, and the student timetable allows VET and TASC courses to run side by side. GYC has been a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for 21 years and is the RTO of choice for 14 Catholic colleges in Tasmania including 58 qualified VET teachers across the state. We also have over 50 industry partners who regularly support our VET programs by providing advice to us about our programs and taking students on placement. We are regularly approached by employers looking for new employees.
At Guilford Young College, students receive quality training and assessment that is responsive to industry needs and to their needs and we have always been perfectly positioned to provide this. I congratulate our exceptional VET team for their camaraderie, excellence, sheer hard work and generosity of spirit.
