End of Term 1 Celebrations

A reminder to all parents that Term 1 concludes this Thursday, 16 April. The term finishes with our annual celebration known as ‘Community Day’.

Community Day is an important occasion and the only opportunity we have in the academic year to bring students together from both campuses as one college to celebrate our community and Catholic identity. We gather at the Glenorchy campus where we hear from an inspiring guest speaker and enjoy live music, food trucks, sporting competitions, games and more.

Community Day forms part of the College’s graduating expectations, meaning that we expect all students to attend. Attendance will be taken throughout the day and parents will be notified if their child is absent. Please do not keep your child at home unless they are genuinely unwell.

The day begins at each campus with Line 5 classes as normal.

Term Break

We take this opportunity to remind families that Friday, 17 April is a student-free day. Term 1 break for students is from Friday, 17 April – Sunday, 3 May. Term 2 commences on Monday, 4 May.

Tomorrow!

Community Day brings the Hobart and Glenorchy campuses together for a day to celebrate our community and Catholic identity and is underpinned by our value of Connection. Students will hear from an inspiring guest speaker, and enjoy live music, food trucks, sporting competitions, games and more.

Parent Student Teacher Conferences provide a valuable opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to come together in a collaborative conversation focused on each student’s learning, progress, and wellbeing. By working in partnership, we can celebrate successes, identify areas for growth, and develop strategies to best support each student moving forward.

Parent Student Teacher Conferences for all students will be held at the Glenorchy Campus on Wednesday 13 May between 2.00pm and 7.00pm with bookings essential. Bookings online open tomorrow at 9.00am.

Term 1 Sports

It’s been a busy Term with many summer sports now coming to an end. The College appreciates all staff, alumni, parents and friends of the College who have been involved with coaching, managing, scoring or umpiring during the Term. Without these enthusiastic and generous people, sport cannot happen!  It has certainly been an incredibly busy and rewarding term. State SATIS Athletics

The GYC Athletics Team travelled to Launceston on Tuesday 31 March to compete in the SATIS State Carnival, following a very successful southern campaign earlier in the term. For a list of full individual highlights please download our sports results.

GYC’s overall results were a fantastic reflection of the team’s depth and effort:

Volleyball Girls

Huge congratulations to our GYC Gold 1st Volleyball Girls who took out the Southern SATIS Grand Final yesterday afternoon.

It was a fantastic lead-up from the girls, dropping just one game all roster - very impressive effort! A big thank you to our coaches and support staff. The girls now look ahead to the State Final in Term 3, where they’ll take on the Northern SATIS winner!

Also, a shoutout to our GYC Purple 2nd Volleyball Girls, who also made the Southern SATIS Grand Final but just fell short. An awesome effort and a great season by these girls as well!
