THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN UPDATED AFTER RECEIPT OF INFORMATION FROM THE OFFICE OF TASMANIAN ASSESSMENT, STANDARDS AND CERTIFICATION (Thursday 20 December, 2018)

The Guilford Young College community offers its heartiest congratulations to 2018 Student Leader Lily Ward (Guzman House) who has been announced as the joint top student in Tasmania for 2018, and the other two students who were in the top 100.

With the release of the academic results, Lily, 18, a student on the Hobart Campus, was named joint highest achiever with The Hutchins’ student Koh Kawaguchi, also 18.

According to Mercury report (Wednesday 19 December), both students have applied to study at the Australian National University, Canberra, from next year and believe a strong score is the best way to reserve their spot.

“I think it [a high score] sets you up so you can complete a desired uni degree, and for me it keeps my options open,” Lily was quoted as saying. She has applied to study a double degree in music and politics, philosophy and economics at ANU.

Lily was one of three Guilford Young College students in the top 100. The others are: Alice Mackey (Hobart) and Ned Daniels (Glenorchy).

Jarrod Hunter who was initially named in the top 100  missed out after the re-issuing of the Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR). Jarrod, along with Verena Koerner and Chelsea Menzie missed out by the very slightest of margins.
