The boys’ cricket team’s good form continued yesterday, giving GYC a strong win against Hutchins Black.
The Hutchins boys chose to bat and were soon in trouble with a brilliant direct-hit run-out by Xavier Zeeman. After 20 overs Hutchins finished on 9/121.
Tim Drake took 2/15 off his four overs and was ably supported by Nicholas Dodge (2/18) and Luke Eyles (2/30).
The small crowd was put in danger when it came to GYC’s turn to bat. Luke Roe and Nicholas Dodge collectively decided that running between wickets was ‘too much like hard work’ and instead peppered the ground with fours and sixes. Roe finished with 45 off 36 balls and Dodge was 52 not out off 45 balls.
GYC reached the target with two overs to spare and only five wickets down. Well done men!
Next week sees a return to the Hutchins School to take on Hutchins Magenta. We wish them luck.
