Hospitality teacher and chef STEPHEN LUNN has taken out the National VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year award at the Australian Training Awards.  (details)

The winners and runners-up were announced last night in Hobart at a dinner attended by more than 650 people.

Mr Lunn’s was one of two awards to come to Tasmania.  The other was to Clennett’s Mitre 10, Whitelion Incorporated and MEGT Institute for the Industry Collaboration Award. Clennett’s Mitre 10 Retail Trainee Program was created with the purpose of providing meaningful long term employment opportunities in the retail sector to disadvantaged youth in the Tasmanian communities of Mornington, Kingston and Huonville. In partnering with youth charity, Whitelion, and group training organisation, MEGT, Clennett’s Mitre 10 Retail Trainee Program offers Certificate II in Retail traineeships to young Tasmanians who have encountered barriers to employment.
