Under the care of the Archdiocese of Hobart and the founding orders of the Sisters of Charity, the Dominican Sisters, the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Christian Brothers and the Sisters of St Joseph, Guilford Young College continues the proud tradition of Catholic schooling in Hobart, dating back to 1826.

As part of the wider Church and its mission, the College is committed to the ethos of the Catholic Church and to high standards and innovative methods of teaching. Students are challenged to achieve their potential in all their endeavours and to become independent, compassionate and effective members of society.

Opened in 1995, the College is dedicated to the memory of Archbishop Sir Guilford Young, who served the people of Tasmania for 34 years as Archbishop of Hobart from 1955 until 1988.
