Positive relationships with young people

Positive relationships and communication with young people will be hosted by Guilford Young College in the Don Bosco Creative Arts Centre, Glenorchy, from 7 to 8:30 PM on Wednesday 16 August. This is a free event and all parents and carers with teenagers and young adults in their family are invited to attend and they are encouraged to also invite friends who may be interested.

Relationships Australia Tasmania in partnership with SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY will present an information session for parents to help them develop confidence in assisting their young people maintain positive mental health by destigmatising the issues and encouraging open and transparent communication.
Founder of SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY Mitch McPherson lost his brother, Ty, to suicide in 2013. Since then he has dedicated his life to spreading positive mental health messages in the hope that other families do not experience the pain that his family has endured.
During the presentation, Mitch, who is Tasmanian Youth of the Year 2017, will share his personal story. Practical advice will also be shared about where young people can access help.
