A number of GYC athletes achieved wonderful results at the Tasmanian Age Track and Field Championships held at the Domain Athletics Centre, Hobart, on the weekend of 24 and 25 February.

ALICE RANDALL won the Open Women’s 5km Race Walk in a time of 23:59:24, a personal best of almost 30 seconds. Because of timing, the 10km event will be held in March.

BEC KOVACIC’s  U20 100m race was touted by Athletics Tasmania as one of the races of the meet.  The media release said:

“The 100m race should be spectacular, as (outstanding power athlete Jane) Hickie will be against current Burnie Gift champion Kiani Allen and Bec Kovacic. With favourable winds, any three could give the 12 second barrier a nudge in the final.”

The result was Kiani Allen  12:32s, Bec Kovacic 12:53s, Jane Hickie 12:76s with a wind of -2.1
