Two successful, vibrant community events have been held to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The World’s Greatest Shave is an annual event, held on each Campus. Glenorchy’s was last week and Hobart’s on Tuesday of this week.
Lacey Swain (Year 12, Glenorchy) was the only girl on either Campus to have her (long) hair shaved off. She was joined by a number of boys. Hair colour was popular and at Hobart, because two of the student leaders, Tom Loveluck (College Captain) and Matthew Bomford (Guzman House Captain), needed to keep their locks for the College Musical, they offered to have their legs waxed.
The events are always fun-filled ways to build community spirit while raising money for a good cause. A very generous amount was raised across the College with the highest individual fund-raisers being Chris Harvey (Glenorchy) and Lachlan Gadomski (Hobart).
A big thank-you has been extended to TasTAFE staff and hairdressing students for shaving and colouring. The Glenorchy students were looked after by the Certificate III Hairdressing (Fast track) students and Hobart was served well by the Certificate II Salon Procedures students. Both events provided excellent teaching opportunities and hands-on experiences for the TAFE students.
(apologies … there seems to be a problem with uploading photos at the moment … we are looking into it)
