The Archbishop of Hobart, the Most Rev. Julian Porteous, has announced an independent review into Catholic Education within the Greater Hobart region.
In a letter today, addressed to Colleagues and Partners in Catholic Education, Archbishop Porteous said that he had initiated a review of the provision of Catholic Education, limited to the Greater Hobart region “as it has been determined that this is the area that will potentially be most impacted by the reforms” of new State legislation passed on 10 July.
“This will be an independent review tasked to provide recommendations that are focused on the best interests of students receiving a Catholic education as well as its long-term viability, sustainability and support for the poor and the marginalised,” he wrote.
“It is intended that the Review commence by October 2017 … The tender for the independent review will be advertised in local and national newspapers this weekend. …. Formal announcement of the outcome of the Review will be made by May 2018.”
